Today, in our workspace overlooking the Shanghai skyline, we celebrated the launch of a new feature on our website: “General Touchability and Clickability” for all Chinese words and phrases. Now, with a simple touch or click, you can instantly hear the pronunciation. This update is an important step in our ongoing efforts to make learning Mandarin more accessible.
P.S. To explore this new feature, simply navigate to any section of our website where Chinese words and phrases are displayed, such as Page 1.5.2 . Click on a word or phrase, or tap it if you’re using a touchscreen device. You’ll instantly hear its pronunciation. Experience the ease of learning Mandarin with this interactive tool!

Yesterday, as I was returning from a refreshing class at the COSTA DI SOPRA Tennis Club (https://www.facebook.com/tccostadisopra), something remarkable happened. While relaxing in the shower, I had a moment of clarity – a real “shower eureka” moment! 💭 As you can imagine, it’s all about www.2049Chinese.com. 🌐 I’ve had similar insights in the past, but this time it’s on a whole different scale. I’m excited to share with you that our website is about to undergo a massive transformation. We’re going from about 1,000 web pages to an astounding 15,000! You might be curious about the reason for this significant increase. Well, give me 2 to 3 weeks to handle this unexpected expansion with some complicated PHP coding. This experience just confirms that playing tennis is not only good for physical health, but also for intellectual breakthroughs.

For artificial intelligence, human hands are a mined terrain. 💣 Below is an image created by ChatGPT showing a lively scene of communal dining, with a multitude of hands reaching for a rich assortment of dishes that signify a shared culinary experience. 🍲 However, upon closer inspection, there seems to be a discrepancy in the number of hands present, which doesn’t correspond to the number of people that one would expect to be around the table. 🤔

Chatty really is a strange creature. 🤖 While working on our new project (let’s call it ***Project 2049*** for now), I asked ChatGPT, version 4, to create a photorealistic drawing of an African-American and a Mexican woman trying on clothes in a chic New York boutique. 👗 Within a minute, Chatty presented me with the first image. 🖼️
My immediate reaction was: “O Chatty, ita ses faendi! Datti una calmata!” (O Chatty, what are you doing! Get a grip on yourself!) 😲 and I asked her for a more pudique suggestion. 🧐 She then produced the second image.

Now the fascinating thing is that when you send the first image back to Chatty and ask her to create another image with “ample and generous cleavage with impressive breasts”, Chatty reacts by saying that “this content (her own image!!!) may violate our content policy” and apologizes “for any confusion, but I must clarify that I am unable to create images that focus on or emphasize sexualized body parts”. 🙅♂️
In other words:
Chatty will give you stuff if you don’t ask for it, but she won’t give it to you if you do ask for it. 🤷♂️
Sounds confusing, doesn’t it? Well, that’s how confused Chatty is when it comes to “sexualized body parts”. 🤔
